Directors Q&A - The Search For Weng Weng Theatrical PosterYou want cult?

We’ve got it!

Andrew Leavold is a master of cult films and will discuss his own directorial addition to the genre, THE SEARCH FOR WENG WENG as the Caloundra Film Festival once again moves to Nambour and showcases this wonderful local film and major talent.

Leavold’s “lifelong quest” to experience cinema in all its crazy variety led to him opening the store Trash Video in the inner-Brisbane suburb of Fortitude Valley in 1995 – essentially, he says, as “a way to share my video collection”.

For the full story of events that led to The Search For Weng Weng check out this fascinating Sydney Morning Herald article.

In Leavold’s own words: “There is something slightly otherworldly about Weng Weng. That’s probably the reason why I’ve got him tattooed on my arm – and why he still invades my dreams to this day.”

Join us at the intimate and wonderful Bison Bar in Nambour from 7.00 pm for a special screening of this cult classic and a question and answer with this amazing guru of cult video.

Synopsis, trailer and links can be found on the programme page.
