A Mermaid in Paris Film Trailer HERE
Gaspard (played by Nicolas Duvauchelle in a completely different role to the tough cop he played in Braquo) is a crooner on the Flowerburger, a barge-cabaret on the Seine who has sworn never to fall in love again. When he saves Lula, (Marilyn Lima) a beautiful mermaid who is swept ashore after a flooding event on that famous river she warns him any any man who falls in love with her, and they all do, will die. When she sings their hearts explode.
That brings Gaspard's emotions to life and he faces the ultimate challenge. Can he survive falling in love again? Can he resist? He, the man who has suffered from having loved too much, and she who has never known love want to sing with the same voice.
There is real magic to this film with great lead and support performances. Step forward one of Almodovar's great support actresses. Rossy de Palma who is outstanding in her role.
"Consistently rewarding. Full of laughter and Love " The Review.
" A Mermaid in Paris is a refreshingly original film about what it means to believe in the things you love, and in doing that, makes a strong argument of why you should love the film itself." Film Inquiry
