Long listed for Best International Film at the Oscars. Corsage is an amazing film that tells the story of Empress Elizabeth of Austria Hungary who is restricted by the times, her husband and the royal court about what she can say and do. An incredible performance by Vicky Krieps. Excellent.

An international co production between Austria, Germany, Luxemborg and France. It won Best Film, Best Director and Best Actress at the European Film Awards and has won numerous other Festival Awards. Vicky Krieps is simply oustanding as the Empress of Austia Hungary in the late 1800's who is bound not just by her the corset she insits on being tightened to extreme to maintain her figure but the strictures of the time and the court.
The film surprises and delights in equal measures as we see Kreips take control of the character Elisabeth and the screen in a performance that is unforgettable. The end scene is one you won't forget. Nor the credits. It's a 5 star art house run at the life of Empress Elisabeth as she nears 40 and increasingly rails at the life she is bound to.
