Francois Ozon (Swimming Pool/ 8 Women/ Everything Went Fine) is a masterful director and this film, with a 5 star cast, (Huppert, Danny Boon and Fabrice Luchini to name just 3) displays all his talents ( he also wrote the script) as he offers the French cinema lover a real treat; a homage to 30's Cinema as well one of the most enjoyable and well made French films of recent times.
Set in 1930s Paris, Madeleine, a young, and talentless actress, is accused of murdering a famous producer. Acquitted on the grounds of self-defence at her trial she enjoys a new life of fame and success until another actress appears and claims the crime.
