When we screened this back in late October we said it was our pick to win Best Foreign Language film at the Academy Awards in March. It's now got a 1 in 5 chance of picking it up. Official Nomination. 

The highest grossing Irish language film of all time.

It's fantastic cinema. 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Winner 11 Irish Film Awards. 

Rural Ireland, 1981. A quiet, neglected girl is sent away from her overcrowded, dysfunctional family to live with foster parents for the summer. She blossoms in their care, but in this house where there are meant to be no secrets, she discovers one painful truth.

The cinematography is absolutlely gorgeous.  The acting superb.  

It's also has an underlying thread about the noise men make and how that keeps women quiet.
